Standing behind a mic to tell my first story, I immediately felt at home. I had always performed - first for family, then as part of choirs and in plays and musicals throughout high school and college. As I got older, I started writing, which helped me find my voice. Storytelling occupies a space between the written and the performative, where those parts of me are allowed to come together. What a gift.
